How to Become a Christian

God Loves You
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Man’s Condition
All have sinned (broken God’s law)

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Sin separates people from God.The wages (penalty) for sin is death

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

After death we will be judged

Hebrews 9:27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Those who reject Jesus will be condemned

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

Everyone Needs a Savior

Jesus is the Savior that God provided.

Jesus died for your sins (paid for them with His death)

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since Jesus is God’s only Son and is God’s way of salvation, Jesus is the only way to be saved from our sins. No other religion or belief can save anyone.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

The requirements of salvation

Admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Repent
(sorrow for sin, willingness to turn away from sin)

Luke 13:5 Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Believe in Jesus as your Savior

Acts 16:30-31 What must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

Receive Jesus as Savior

John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Prayer of repentance
Dear God I know that I am a sinner and have done wrong and sinful things. I am sorry for my sins and ask you to have mercy and forgive me. I believe that Jesus is your Son and that He died for my sins. I ask you to come into my life and be my God. I dedicate my life to you. I want to live as a Christian and please you. Guide me and help me every day. Thank you for loving me and forgiving me.

Pray every day. Prayer is simply talking to God. You can pray to thank God; you can ask for help and guidance; you can talk to God about the needs of your life.
